I see this mistake constantly. A marketing VP at a massive enterprise company decides to hire an enterprise SEO agency, only to realize the agency is treating the enterprise website like a small website.
Enterprise SEO isn’t like regular SaaS SEO. It is a completely different, involving:
I know this because at PipeRocket Digital, we’ve handled SEO for both enterprise companies and SaaS companies.

I didn’t just pick names out of a hat. I reviewed more than 50 enterprise SEO agencies and looked at the things that actually matter when you are trusting an agency with a massive budget.

Here are some questions you need to answer before thinking about hiring an enterprise SEO agency.:
When your site crosses tens of thousands of pages, internal teams hit a ceiling fast. An enterprise SEO agency brings the infrastructure and specialist teams to manage that scale without your internal team dropping everything else. Signs you’ve hit this point:
Better content doesn’t always win. If competitors are outranking you with weaker pages, the gap is rarely about content quality. An enterprise SEO agency diagnoses exactly where you’re losing. It’s usually one of these:
This is the most common enterprise SEO problem nobody talks about. Your team identifies the issue. It sits in a dev ticket for six months. Nothing ships. Enterprise SEO agencies are built to navigate this:
If your SEO, paid media, and content teams are running separate strategies with no shared data, you are leaving serious revenue on the table. An enterprise SEO agency connects these channels. What that looks like in practice:
New market entries are where SEO debt compounds fastest. Poor architecture decisions made at launch take years to undo. Getting an enterprise SEO agency involved early prevents the most expensive mistakes:
I’ve been on both sides of the table. I know that the questions you usually ask (like “What is your link strategy?”) are useless. Take it from an enterprise SEO agency ourselves, here is what you should actually be asking if you want to avoid a disaster.
I see this mistake constantly. A marketing VP logs in and says, “I want more traffic.” Stop. Traffic is vanity. If you start with volume, you have already lost.
You need to chase intent. I focus my energy on “Bottom of Funnel” solution pages first. Why? Because I want the prospect who is actively searching for a vendor right now, not a student writing a research paper.
As an enterprise SEO service provider, I don’t want to hear “brand awareness” or “lead generation” as the sole goal. Tell me you want to capture the person actively comparing you to your competitors. If your goal isn’t revenue, you are just burning the budget on server costs.
The problem:
The client had the usual pain points. They can’t focus on SEO and wanted someone to take over with authority. They told us the goal would be to increase traffic from a particular category.
The issue:
Bringing in traffic is not that hard. But there the issue with this is that, traffic is a vanity metric. We can bring in 30k traffic per month with 0 leads.
How we aligned focus:
We asked them their long term goal with us and SEO. Their replied that they want to make SEO a revenue engine. So, we asked them these things:
The Result:
With these information, we narrowed down to focusing on bringing in traffic and SQLs to this specific category initially and moved to other categories later. As of now, we’ve helped them get $5 Million in revenue from SEO using this strategy.
Most enterprise SEO agencies guess. They run a generic crawl, hand you a massive spreadsheet of errors, and walk away. That doesn’t work in enterprise. I need to understand the product better than the people who built it.
Ask them this: “How do you handle internal roadblocks?” If they don’t have a plan for getting tickets through a frozen engineering backlog, run.
You don’t need a checklist; you need an enterprise SEO company who understands how to navigate compliance, legacy code, and dev teams that hate SEO. If they don’t understand the friction of your organization, they will never get anything shipped.
Ignore the “200% traffic increase” slides. That is often just “fluff traffic” from a viral blog post that drove zero revenue. Look for the “fixer” stories.
If I was looking for an enterprise SEO agency, I would want to see where they took a site with millions of pages of “zombie content,” pruned it, and improved lead quality. I want to see how they handled a failed migration that tanked rankings.
That is the only case study that matters: Efficiency at scale. If they can’t show you how they turned organic search into a predictable revenue engine, they aren’t ready for enterprise complexity.
You have to know if they are guessing, or forecasting. I don’t guess growth; I model it.
Your enterprise SEO agency should be looking at Total Addressable Market (TAM) within search. They should be analyzing your log files to see how Google actually crawls your site, not just what a third-party tool says.
If their strategy is just “write more blog posts” without analyzing crawl budgets, index bloat, or strike-distance keywords, they are gambling with your timeline. They need to show you the math on why a technical fix will result in revenue.
Most SEO reports are useless. They show “Average Position” or “Impressions”.
I would demand to see business impact. I would like to know which specific landing pages are driving SQLs (Sales Qualified Leads). If they aren’t setting up proper attribution to tell you that “Page A” generated “$50k in Pipeline,” they are hiding behind vanity metrics.
You need to know if you are ranking for terms that actually close deals, or just terms that get clicks. Demand to see a dashboard that speaks the language of your CFO, not your webmaster.
Don’t ask for their happiest client. Ask them about the client with the messy tech stack.
Ask them about a time they had to fight a dev team to get a canonical tag fixed. In enterprise, things break, and politics get in the way, I’ve seen this myself and it happens more than you think. So, you need to know if they have the experience to push back when a “site update” threatens to wipe out your traffic.
You want a referral that confirms the agency acts like an owner, not just a vendor who sends a monthly PDF.
Clients often ask, “How much does SEO cost?”. That is the wrong question. The question is: “What is the cost of inaction?”
If your site has technical debt preventing you from ranking for high-value terms, you are bleeding money every day. Calculate the LTV of a customer. If a monthly contract is worth $10,000 and you get two conversions every month that adds up to more than $10,000, you’ll be making more than the investment.
When you view it this way, you stop buying “deliverables” and start buying market share.
We built PipeRocket Digital because we got tired of watching enterprise brands burn money on “consulting” that never turned into a pipeline. We know the reality of your job. You have thousands of legacy pages, a dev team that hates SEO tickets, and a CMO demanding revenue.
We don’t want to be one of those enterprise SEO agencies who hands you a 200-page audit and wishes you luck. We act as the owners of your planning and execution roadmap. We fight the internal battles to get technical fixes shipped through your engineering backlog.
We ignore the “vanity traffic” that pads a monthly report. We focus strictly on the high-intent infrastructure that actually drives the pipeline for your sales team.

Enterprise SEO is the practice of optimizing massive websites (thousands of pages) while navigating complex internal politics, legacy code, and multiple stakeholders. It’s about scale and execution friction.
While traditional agencies might optimize a 50 to 200 page site, enterprise SEO agencies manage sites with 10,000+ pages. Along with that, a good enterprise SEO service provider should also increase the authority of the website.
If you want revenue-focused B2B or B2B SaaS SEO for enterprise-level scale, it’s PipeRocket Digital. If you need heavy data analytics, look at Seer Interactive. If you need a massive content scale, check out Siege Media.
The pricing of enterprise SEO can be as low as $1000 or even more than $25,000. It really depends on the level of service you are looking for. At PipeRocket Digital, we start our enterprise SEO services at $5000 which will cover most of your requirements.
As for the results, it usually takes 3-6 months to see movement because large ships turn slowly.
